DYLAN PUST

In the coming year I plan to enter the workforce in the Healthcare Industry. My goals are to work as a Kinesiologist or to work in the Cardiac Rehab side of things. This site shows all of the education I have completed to get to this point, my passions that have helped guide me to where I am, and a few blog posts on my thoughts, mainly regarding sport, over the years.

EDUCATION

A BIT ABOUT ME

My Story

Throughout my life sport and school have been at the forefront of my passions. I began participating in endurance sport, specifically running, at a young age and have continued with it ever since. At the age of thirteen I was introduced to the sport of Triathlon, which is an event that combines swimming, biking, and running into one race. I have slowly progressed over the years in this sport and have learned so much about myself through training for and racing in this sport. Commitment is a main trait that I have learned throughout my years in this sport. To truly reach your full-potential, years and years of consistent training is required. You don't just get to an elite level after two or three years of training in this sport, and that is something I have really grown to respect and love. I feel this outlook has carried over to my academic life as well. Consistent work day-in, day-out is something I have grown to love and appreciate. My interest in Exercise Science is certainly due to my involvement in and passion for sport and this has encouraged me to pursue a profession in the Healthcare Industry and carry my knowledge and experiences over into this sector of the working world.

PROFICIENCIES

Reppin the pink #class

Athletics

I have had the privilege to train for and compete in the sport of Triathlon for almost a decade. Through this I have traveled to many places I would have never seen, met people from all different places and walks of life, and improved myself as a person. I have competed nationally and Internationally for the past five years and have received provincial funding the past three seasons. I plan to continue training for and competing in this sport for the foreseeable future, whatever level that may be at once I enter the working world. The skills that I have gained from Triathlon will play a large role towards my career and daily outlook and work ethic within my role.

Caretaker

Since the summer of 2016 I have had the opportunity to work with a man who has severe Cerebral Palsy. He is four years my elder, so we are quite close in age. What started as a part-time summer job quickly transpired into a friendship that has lasted ever since. This man’s name is Joschi, he is unable to perform most everyday tasks that many of us naturally take for granted. Joschi has taught me so much, specifically he has provided me with a new perspective; that being, no matter what your situation is, you can put a positive spin on it and accept it for what it is and work with what you have. I have been seeing Joschi every summer, when I returned home from school, since 2016 and plan to continue this for the foreseeable future. Everything he has taught me I do not take for granted and has certainly changed me as a person. My desire to help others has really taken off since meeting Joschi and working in the Health Care Industry will be a very profiling role for me.
